How does SurvivalCraft differ from typical survival courses?
The course focuses around survival kits/gear – with the inclusion of survival principles.
The training is in workshop formats, primarily lasting only three days. It is not a protracted course lasting several months or years. The principle-based information can be picked up relatively easy, similar to a first aid course or basic bicycle maintenance course.
Opportunities will be available for more detailed training, depending on the needs of each individual. This supplementary training is available for no more than three people in order to allow for personalised tuition.
There is no grading system. All courses will be supported by a specific booklet for you to keep. Plus a certificate of completion.
The course is primarily focused around survival gear and kits. And inadvertently we will run through survival principles to cover for a short term survival situation.
The training is not bushcraft, although we do cover some elements of associated bushcraft, such as limited impromptu shelter building, firecraft, cutting tools, and water preservation.
The training is for short term survival, where there would be communication to search and rescue teams.
Who is this course aimed at?
Typically anyone who ventures out into a non-urban environment, such as the countryside, wilderness, but not necessarily isolated areas. It is suitable for anybody who enjoys the territorial ‘great outdoors’ ….day hikers, motorbike riders, back packers, car journeys, mountain bikers, bike-packers, hunters, field sports, kayakers, overnight back packers, hang gliders, fishermen, etc. It is designed to complement other reference sources on survival – other authors, survival skills courses, on line videos, self learning, etc.
It is primarily for a Westernised, European type environment; although these principles can be transferred to other climates and environments.
At present the training caters only for adults. Training for parent/caregiver and adolescents maybe something that could be made available for micro groups in the near future.
Where does the course take place?
The location of the training is in various areas around East Sussex; however if sufficient interest is taken, it is possible that the weekend courses can be arranged anywhere in the Britain. The actual address of the course will be provided on confirmation of booking.
The classroom format (workshops) will be held inside a venue. At a later date for selected students and once the three days workshops have been completed, then outdoor practical tuition will be made available.

“Steve’s methodical delivery is well thought out, making a complex subject approachable.”
